CAIRO: The Suez Canal Floating Bridge will re-open Monday’s afternoon after a four-year closure, said Suez Canal Authority (SCA) chairperson Mohab Mamish.
“The experimental operation of the bridge will take place this afternoon,” he announced to the media during an inauguration of a hospital for the children with special needs in Ismailia.
On Jan. 4, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi directed to reopen the bridge to ease the shipping traffic at East Port Said entrance.
The bridge links the Africa continent with Asia from Suez to Sinai; it was closed since the 2011 uprising.
It was inaugurated during the era of former President Hosni Mubarak with cooperation with Japan in 2001.
