CAIRO: A police officer was sentenced Monday to seven years in prison and five others police watchdogs were sentenced to five years over killing a civilian and possessing drugs in Giza’s al-Saf city, Youm7 reported.
According to the investigations, the convicts stormed the victim’s house claiming that he was a drug dealer and opened fire at the door of the house when the victim refused to let them enter without an arrest warrant. The home owner was fatally shot in the incident.
When the convicts realized that they stormed the wrong house; they hurried to forge a fake warrant of arrest against the victim and put rolls of drugs besides the dead body to cover up their crime, the investigation added, noting that the the victim was an employee at an electricity company.
In August, a police officer was sentenced to five years in prison over killing 37 alleged Muslim Brotherhood inmates in 2013; in December 2015, two police officers received five years imprisonment for torturing a lawyer to death.
