CAIRO: A high-level delegation from the parliament of the U.K. arrived in Cairo Friday morning in a two-day visit to meet with a number of politicians and Egyptian parliamentarians, Youm7 reported.
Headed by British Conservative Party politician and MP for Rutland and Melton, the delegation is scheduled to meet with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and speaker of Egypt’s newly-elected parliament Ali Abdel Aal.
The visit aims to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations as well the anticipated relations between the two parliaments.
The visit is the first of its kind since Egypt’s new House of Representatives held its opening session Jan. 10; more than three years after a court dissolved the old Islamist-dominated parliament in 2012.
In December, head of European Union Delegation to Egypt, Ambassador James Moran said that the upcoming period “will witness several visits of envoys of the European Parliament deputies to Egypt,” Youm7 reported.
