CAIRO: An Egyptian delegation from the agriculture ministry is participating in the 26th round of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) 2016, convening in Berlin Jan. 14-16, the state news agency MENA reported.

Headed by Egyptian Agriculture Minister Essam Fayed, the delegation will meet with leaders of global agricultural organizations including the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to discuss the latest developments in the production of agricultural crops including rice and wheat: Egypt’s most strategic crops.

Egypt is the world’s largest wheat importer with production expected to increase by 13.5 percent to reach 9.5 million tons by 2016-17 fiscal year, Fayed announced in a press conference late December.

The summit brings together international representatives from politics, academic, and civil society to share ideas and enhance understanding on specific topics of current agricultural policies and to discuss future of the global food industry, according to the GFFA website.
