CAIRO: A delegation from the Russian Aviation Authority (RAA) arrived in Cairo Monday to check security measures at Cairo International Airport, head of EgyptAir security sector Tarek Zaky was quoted by Al Ahram.

The delegation comprises of four senior officials from RAA including the authority’s deputy head Major General Victor Konyukhov, said Zaky.

The team will begin inspecting security procedures applied at Cairo airport’s arrival and departure halls in addition to control and checks of the baggage, cargo and land service measures Tuesday, he added.

The results of the inspection will help the Russian authorities to decide whether it will restore the air service between Russia and Egypt soon or not, according to Zaky.

Russia has suspended its air service with Egypt, following the crash of the Russian airliner over Sinai late Oct., 2015, carrying 217 passengers and seven crew members.

Last week, the security sector at EgyptAir has successfully passed the U.S.-based Transportation Security Administration (TSA) testing program.

In Dec., EgyptAir Cargo company has successfully passed the European Union test on security requirements for incoming air cargo EU ACC3.
