CAIRO: Egypt’s Grand Mufti Shawqi Allam traveled to Switzerland Tuesday to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) that will kick off Wednesday, Youm7 reported.
Allam’s participation at the international business event follows an official invitation he received from Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the WEF.
The clergyman will address the gathering on “the tolerance of Islam and inter-faith dialogue and its efforts to spread Islamic culture and cooperation among nations across the world,” Dar al-Iftaa stated.
During his visit, Allam will meet with Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva Michael Møller, and the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby among others.
Under the theme, “Mastering the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” over 40 heads of state and government, as well as 2,500 leaders from business and society will convene at this year’s forum.
