CAIRO: At least three Egyptian fishermen drowned after their boat capsized off Rosetta strait on the western branch of the Nile River, Youm7 reported Wednesday.

“Fifteen fishermen were onboard of the ill-fated boat, the dead body of one fisherman was found floating near the strait while the other two fishermen are still missing,” Ahmed Nassar, head of Fishermen Syndicate in Egypt’s Delta governorate of Kafr al Sheikh told Youm7 Wednesday.

Rescue teams were able to rescue the other 12 fishermen onboard, Nassar said, adding that the boat capsized “due to extreme weather conditions.”

Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has warned of a cold wave and sandstorm on Tuesday, with a five-degree increase in temperature accompanied by heavy showers expected at Northern Mediterranean cities.
