CAIRO: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Thursday his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in the Qobba Presidential Palace, before a scheduled visit to the recently elected House of Representatives.

The national anthems of both countries were played during the red-carpet reception, while the artillery gave a 21-gun salute.

Xi arrived in Cairo, his second leg of Middle East tour, Wednesday after holding cooperation and bilateral discussions with Saudi King Salman bin Abdelaziz.

Egypt will sign with China $10 billion worth of cooperation agreements during the Jinping’s three-day-visit, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Cairo Qi Qianjin‏ stated Tuesday.

Qi added that the agreements include the establishment of a group of projects in Suez Canal Region besides cooperation deals with the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation.

It is expected that both sides will also sign bilateral agreements in fields of electricity and housing projects, particularly concerning Egypt’s new administrative capital.
