CAIRO: A trial of four men charged with an arson attack against a Giza restaurant last year will begin on March 29, the Cairo Appeals Court announced Thursday.
The attack, which took place in December 2015, killed 17 workers.
The assailants (aged between 19-20 yrs) were denied entry to “El-Sayyad” Restaurant, and later threw Molotov cocktails at the only door.
The fire trapped the victims inside the restaurant, which is mostly made of wood, and has only one exit and no windows.
A housewife and a relative of one of the defendants will face trial over covering up the assailants; both were bailed 10,000 EGP ($1,277) each.
The incident has raised questions regarding licenses issued for such facilities with poor basic safety standards.
