2 guards injured in Sharqia checkpoint attack

CAIRO: Two guards were injured early Friday after unidentified persons shot at a checkpoint in a village in the Delta’s Sharqia, Youm7 reported.

Mohamed Hamed, 35, was injured by a birdshot in the back , while Abdel Hady Ahmed, 35, was injured by birdshot in the head. They were transferred to the main public hospital in Abou Kabir town. The assailants escaped after opening fire.

On Thursday night, a number of people blew off an explosive device as the police raided their apartment in Giza. Nine people have been killed in the incident, including the perpetrators, the police, and civilians, according to Youm7.
