CAIRO: An Egyptian parliamentary delegation arrived in Baghdad Friday to take part in the 11th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC) conference.
Headed by the deputy speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Mahmoud el Sharif, the delegation was received by Iraqi parliament speaker Saleem al Jubouri.
The conference started on Jan. 20 and will continue until 25. It will discuss ways to integrate Arab and Islamic parliamentary efforts to deal with challenges currently facing Arab and Islamic states including terrorism and illegal immigration.
The Union aims to enhancing the implementation of the Islamic principle of consultation in all OIC Member States. It also provides a framework for comprehensive cooperation among parliaments of OIC members.
The PUIC was founded in Iran in 1999, with its head office situated in Tehran.
