CAIRO: Egypt’s parliament speaker Ali Abdel Al will visit Wednesday police and military hospitals in Cairo to inspect health conditions of security personnel wounded in militant attacks, Youm7 reported.
Abdel Al will visit the Police Hospital in Cairo’s district of Agouza along with the Military Hospital in the city’s upscale district of Maadi, Youm7 reported, citing a statement of Egypt’s House of Representative Tuesday.
Egypt has witnessed a significant rise in militancy since the military-backed ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 following mass protests against his rule. According to the Interior Ministry, militant attacks have killed more than 500 security personnel since then.
Militants killed three people, including two police officers, in an assault against a security checkpoint in Egypt’s Delta governorate of Sharqia Sunday.
