CAIRO: Four people died and 27 were injured in a fire at Shorouk Hospital in the Gelim district of eastern Alexandria early Monday, Youm7 reported.
The fire started at the privately-owned hospital’s department of radiology due to an overloaded electric grid, Youm7 reported.
The section was established without informing the Civil Protection department; hence it did not meet building standards.
Power was cut off from the seven-floor hospital until the fire was put out. An elderly Libyan patient died of asphyxia, while 30 patients were rescued from a high ladder.
All those injured were transferred to Al-Amiri and Semouha university hospitals.
