CAIRO: Six agreements on transport and renewable energy will be signed with Japan during President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s visit to Tokyo in the end of February, Youm7 reported.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has proposed several other projects to be decided on before Sisi’s visit, spokesperson of the Electricity Ministry Mohamed al-Yamani told Youm7 Tuesday.
A memorandum of understanding will be signed with JICA to build a power plant to generate solar energy of 20-megawatt capacity, and another to generate power from coal at a capacity of 2,000-4,000 megawatts in cooperation with Egyptian company Orascom, Yamani said.
Sisi will also visit South Korea in his anticipated Asian tour. Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry visited the two states in November to prepare for the visit, where he met with representatives from JICA and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, among senior officials.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and a high-level economic delegation met with Sisi in January last year, where the two expressed their anticipation of Japanese investment in Egypt.
