CAIRO: Two suspected militants were killed and two policemen were injured Wednesday in a gun battle between the security forces and alleged terrorists, in southern suburb of Maadi, Youm7 reported.

A security official told Youm7 on condition of anonymity that the police officers have been notified about a hideout where alleged terrorists were hiding out.

After forces surrounded the area, fire broke out and an ambush lasted for several hours, the official added.

Security forces confiscated explosives substances and home-made bombs used in terrorist attacks, the official continued.

On Jan. 25, a 24-year-old was killed in Beni Suef in a gun battle with the police Monday as they attempted to raid his home. A total of 75 alleged Muslim Brotherhood members were arrested last month nationwide on the fifth anniversary of January 25 Revolution, according to a statement from the Ministry of Interior.
