CAIRO: A video showing a number of teachers climbing a school’s fence and trying to escape while the gates were closed has gone viral, stirring mockery on social media.
The escaping teachers might face harsh punishment for what the ministry of education said “has insulted teachers and education system,” according to Mohamed Hossam, undersecretary of the Ministry.
In a Tuesday TV address, Hossam addressed the teachers, saying “How will you explain it to the students when you return back?,” ensuring that the ministry will not tolerate with the incident, which is being administratively investigated.
The footage, posted on a Facebook page that belongs to user Ahmed Nabil, showed teachers jumping one after another on the gates of a school in Delta’s Sharqia governorate, with a background voice of a man who is recording the video saying “this is a farce.”
The unusual incident has attracted satire comments saying that “in the past, students had to escape schools, but now teachers are the ones escaping.”
