CAIRO: Rear Admiral Eugene H. Black, Deputy Commander at the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, arrived in Cairo late Sunday to meet with senior officials, Youm7 reported.

Egypt’s Defense Minister Sedqy Sobhy received U.S. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and an accompanying delegation in Cairo in November, to discuss training and exchanges of expertise.

Egyptian Navy Commander Osama Rabei met with his French counterpart Admiral Bernard Roge in Paris in January to enhance maritime cooperation. France will dispatch two Mistral warships in June and September, an anonymous source told AFP Feb. 5.

Meanwhile, Russia will supply Egypt with military technology and helicopters designed for the Mistral-class warships in a $1-billion deal, RIA Novosti reported Kremlin Chief of Staff Sergei Ivanov as saying in October.
