CAIRO: Irrigation ministers of Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia will review the technical offers from two French consultancy firms, BRL and Artelia, at the 10th meeting of the Tripartite National Committee (TNC) on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) in Khartoum Wednesday, Youm7 reported.
Once approved, the three African nations will request the two firms to embark on studies assessing the GERD’s impact on the downstream states; Sudan and Egypt.
U.K.-based law firm Corbett & Co is planned to sign the contract with the consultancy companies on behalf of the three African nations mid-February, the minister added.
The TNC held meetings with the foreign ministers of the three states in December to expedite prolonged negotiations.
The final reports of the consultancy firms should be submitted in no more than a year, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported Advisor to Irrigation Minister Alaa Yassin as saying.
