CAIRO: Italian airlines Meridiana will fly from Milano to Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh every week at a ticket price starting from 112 euros ($125,) beginning in March, Youm7 reported head of the International Toursim Sector Mohamed Abdel Gabbar Tuesday.

The agreement was concluded at the international travel fair BIT, which was held in Milano Feb. 11-13, said Abdel Gabbar.

The agreement also included weekly trips from Milano to Cairo starting from May with a ticket price of 240 euros, he said, adding that the Tourism Ministry is trying to convince Italian travel agencies to keep the offer from six months rather than six weeks.

The tourist influx in Egypt has plummeted in recent years after the January 25 Revolution in 2011, and more so in recent months after a Russian plane crashed over Sinai and several Western states issued travel bans.
