CAIRO: Six irrigation plants and four agricultural drainage stations water will be established in the Nile Delta at a cost of 900 million EGP ($114.9 million,) Youm7 reported Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Mostafa Abou Zeid, head of the Mechanics and Electricity Authority of the Irrigation Ministry, inaugurated al-Hares water station in Beheira, a governorate which lies in the Delta and on the Mediterranean.

The Islamic Development Bank provides Egypt with a 110-million EGP loan over four installments to build 32 stations, Abou Zeid said during the inauguration.

He added that the authority will cooperate soon with China to manufacture spare parts needed by water stations, as Egypt imports the parts.
