CAIRO: An Egyptian parliamentary delegation arrived to the Ivory Coast Sunday morning to take part in the Regional seminar for African parliaments on the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolution 1540, Youm7 reported.

The seminar will be held Feb. 22-23 at the National Assembly Palace in the Ivory Coast capital city of Abidjan, where participants plan to discuss strengthening the ability of national parliaments to assess the risk associated with Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD.)

UN Security Council resolution 1540, adopted in 2004, obliges governments to implement laws to prevent terrorist groups and other non-state actors from acquiring such weapons, according to the seminar’s webpage.

Delegations of more than 35 African nations are scheduled to take part in the seminar’s activities.
