CAIRO: Egypt’s under 18 handball team won the 13th Mediterranean Championship title after beating Turkey 37-28 in the final match held in Alexandria Saturday.
Ahmed Rady was announced the championship’s most valuable player, Abdelaziz Ehab was tapped as the best left wing, Shehab Ahmed was best left back and Amr Khaled was best right wing.
Tunisia came in the third place after beating Saudi Arabia 17-15 while Algeria came fifth after beating Jordan.
“The players deserve the title for their great talents and performance in the eight matches played in the tournament. They also prove themselves worthy of resuming the victories achieved by Egypt’s main handball team,” said Khaled Hamouda, the Egyptian Handball Federation chairman.
In late January, Egypt won the African Handball Cup of Nations after defeating Tunisia 21-19 in a heated game.
