CAIRO: Egypt will face Burkina Faso in a friendly game Saturday as part of their preparations for the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The match will be played at Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab Stadium at 06:00 p.m. Cairo local time. According to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) chairman, Gamal Allam, the game will be watched by only 3,000 fans.
The friendly game is a test for the Pharaohs before their two upcoming matches with Nigeria in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers scheduled for March 25 and 29.
The Pharaohs, who won two from two in their group so far, will seek to extend their lead over second placed Nigeria. According to regulations of the qualifications, only the top teams from each group will reach the AFCON qualifications.
The Pharaohs, who held the title six times, have failed three times in a row at qualifying to the African Cup on nations.
