CAIRO: A delegation from the Inter-Parliament Union (UIP) arrived Sunday in Egypt to discuss establishing an institute for parliamentary science in Egypt, according to a statement from Egypt’s House of Representatives.

The visit follows a protocol signed by Egyptian Speaker of House of Representative Ali Abdel-Aal and the Secretary General of the Union Martin Chungong Feb. 16 at the Union’s headquarters in Geneva.

The delegation includes experts from France, Australia, Italy, and England; they will provide their experiences regarding organizing parliamentary work and providing training courses.

During Abdel-Aal’s trip to Switzerland and Albania he attended the 10th plenary session of The Parliamentary Assembly of Union for the Mediterranean that was held in Tirana Feb. 18.

Egyptians elected in October and November its House of Representatives, in the final step of the roadmap set out by the military in July 2013. The parliament commenced its opening session Jan. 10, for the first time in more than three years, after the Islamic-dominated parliament was dissolved in 2012.
