CAIRO: Zamalek were handed a heavy 3-1 defeat Thursday at the hands of Al Entag Al Harby despite playing with 10 men during the second half-time.
Al Entag Al Harby’s striker Salah Amin scored two goals in minutes 17 and 72 while Mahmoud Fathallah scored a third one in a penalty kick in minute 85.
Zimbabwean striker Emmanuel Mayuka scored Zamalek’s only goal in the minute 27.
Thursday’s loss, which is Zamalek’s fourth in this season, has increased the difference in points with their arch-rivals Al Ahly, who currently top the league, to six points.
Thursday’s match was played at Petro Sport Stadium. It was the first for Zamalek’s new head coach Alex McLeish. Zamalek will face the Arab Contractors in the 21st round of the league on Sunday.
