Sacking MP Okasha is ‘legal,’ says former parliament speaker

CAIRO: Former speaker of Egypt parliament Ahmed Fathy Soroor stressed Friday the validity of the decision to strip Tawfiq Okasha from his parliamentary membership, Youm7 reported.

He added that “The House of Representatives enjoys its independent authority and its decisions are not subject to the judicial verdicts.”

Soroor was one of the most important pioneers of legal schools, he has worked as  a president of the Egyptian parliament for 21 years, president of the International Law Institute in France, Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Arab, African, Islamic and the first president of the Parliament of the Euro-Mediterranean.
