CAIRO:  A delegation from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism traveled to Germany Tuesday to participate in ITB Berlin, the world’s largest tourism convention, scheduled for March 9-13, Youm7 reported.

Egypt will be represented by several organizations from the tourism sector, including 52 hotels and 12 tour operators in addition to separate stalls for the national carrier EgyptAir and the Egyptian Federation of Chambers of Tourism; Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou, who heads Egypt delegation, was quoted by Youm7.

The move comes as part of ministry’s plans to increase cooperation with international travel companies in a bid to revive Egypt’s flagging tourism sector that has declined following the 2011 uprising.

The 50th round of ITB Berlin will be welcoming a collection of leading hotels, resorts, tour operators and attractions from all over the world to showcase their products and try to entice key European markets.

A total of $1.7 million has been allocated to promote Egypt as a tourist destination in Germany, head of the Tourism Promotion Authority Mahmoud sami told Youm7 in February.
