CAIRO: The Egyptian diplomatic mission in Damascus has to rescued and repatriated 10 Egyptian citizens who were stranded in war-torn Syria, Youm7 reported Wednesday.

Travel arrangements and procedures for the 10 were finalized Tuesday in cooperation with officials from the International Organization for Migration, the Chargé d’affaires of Egypt in Damascus Mohamed Tharwat Selim was quoted as saying by Youm7.

The Egyptians escaped from some of Syria’s more dangerous governorates including Rif Dimashq (Damascus Countryside,) Latakia and Hama, said Selim.

On March 9, the mission rescued an Egyptian woman and her two daughters who were stranded in Syria’s town of Al Ghouta, spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid told state news agency MENA.
