CAIRO: The 5th International Maritime Transport and Logistics conference kicked off in Alexandria Sunday, Youm7 reported.
The theme of this year’s edition focuses on “smart ports” and their impact on economy, maritime and transportation system. It also focuses on the logistics industry, technology and development in maritime engineering, according to Youm7.
Hosted by the Alexandria-based Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, the three-day conference is held in collaboration with the International Association of Ports & Harbors (IAPH), Valencia port Foundation and Suez Canal Authority, according to the academy’s webpage.
Heads of port authorities along with representatives from local and international companies operating in the maritime transport, logistics, financing, construction and information technology from 15 states are expected to attend the annual conference.
