Civilian, drug dealer killed in police shoot-out with gang

CAIRO: A civilian and an alleged drug dealer were killed in a gun battle between the police and a gang in 6 October City Saturday evening, a security source at Giza Security Directorate told Youm7.

The Cairo-Fayoum road is a suspected criminal hub, where a number of wanted Bedouins and gangs are thought to reside; the shooting lead to the death of Eid Deif Sweilam, an alleged drug dealer, the source said.

A bystander, Emad Qorani, was killed by gunshot in the chest from the side of the defendants while he was in a microbus passing through the area, the source added.

Ten people charged with consuming drugs were arrested in the area, where they were buying heroin, according to the source.

A machine gun, ammunition and heroin were also seized.

In late February, four policemen were killed in Qalyubia after a group of drug dealer shot at them.
