CAIRO: The death toll of a Monday building collapse in Ismailia has reached three after two more bodies were found, Youm7 reported.
There are still hopes to save a woman and her child believed to be under the rubble and efforts are still ongoing to rescue survivors. Five people were injured in the collapse.
Bad weather is behind the incident; in addition to that the building is old, head of the Civil Protection department Mohamed Saqr told Youm7.
The residents of two buildings adjacent to the building were evacuated.
An elderly woman was killed Monday in Alexandria after part of an atrium wall collapse due to strong winds while she was inside, Youm7 reported.
A wave of bad weather hit Egypt Sunday with a sandstorm then heavy rain. Bad weather often leaves behind a number of building collapses, in addition to collapses reported due to poor and illegal construction.
In November, dozens of buildings collapsed in coastal cities, including Alexandria and Beheira after rain that caused flooding.
