CAIRO: A total of 35 kilos of raw hashish were seized at Cairo Airport with a Kuwaiti passenger arriving from Morocco, a source at the customs of the airport told Youm7 Wednesday.
After the customs procedures of the passengers of the flight, officers suspected the Kuwaiti national and open his baggage, where hashish was found hidden between layers of clothes.
The man will be referred to the prosecution on charges of possessing drugs and importing drugs for sale purposes.
In December, a passenger was arrested at Cairo Airport for trying to smuggle 620 grams of hashish inside his shoes.
In November, the airport authorities busted a Paraguayan passenger at Cairo Airport over hiding some 1.5 kg of cocaine in his luggage after arriving from Ethiopia.
There are some 3 million people in Egypt who are addicted to different kinds of drugs, head of the Addiction Treatment Unit of the Health Ministry Abdel Rahman Hammad told Youm7 in November.
Hashish is the drug with the most addicts, according to Abdel Rahman.
