CAIRO: Three militant suspects were killed by Egyptian military forces in restive North Sinai’s Rafah, Egypt’s Ministry spokesperson Mohamed Samir stated Thursday.

During a military campaign in the city, military forces fatally shot three suspects who had tried to plant a roadside bomb, Samir continued, noting that guns and live bullets were seized as well.

Meanwhile, the forces also killed two other suspects in a gun fight in Dukan al-Menei area in Rafah, the spokesperson said.

On Feb. 27, two soldiers were killed and two were injured after a roadside bomb detonated on their route in south Rafah, Youm7 reported.

Several roadside bombs have detonated in passing armored vehicles amid a series of attacks that resulted in hundreds of deaths among the armed forces and the police in North Sinai.  The attacks, mostly claimed by self-proclaimed Sinai Province, have resulted in casualties among citizens.
