CAIRO: A technical delegation from Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton will visit Egypt in early April to discuss the establishment of a factory for automobile manufacturing, the Egyptian ambassador to Kuala Lumpur Salah al-Wisseimy was reported by Egypt’s state-owned news agency MENA Thursday.

The talks will tackle executive measures between both sides, as the Malaysian company will establish a manufacturing branch in Egypt, Wisseimy added, noting that the plant aims to produce 1,000 vehicles annually.

Another delegation visited Cairo in February and met with governmental officials over opening other  investment projects in Egypt, he noted.

In March, Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil announced that Egypt has allocated a vehicle manufacturing line to produce British double-decker buses for the British market, for the first time.
