CAIRO: Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou met with Malaysiaia Ambassador to Egypt Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari Thursday to discuss means of enhancing tourism cooperation and partnership between the two countries, Youm7 reported.
The two sides have discussed an agreement to establish a weekly charter flight to promote the Kuala Lampur-Cairo route to passengers of the both countries.
The flight aims at moving Malaysian tourists to spend five-day travel package in Egypt, with the potential of linking such trips with the season of pilgrimage, according to the Malaysian Embassy in Cairo Facebook page.
The travel deal will include sightseeing to archaeological sites in Cairo, Luxor and Aswan, Zaazou said, adding that he would coordinate with all Egypt stakeholders in this regard to launch the weekly flight as soon as possible.
The Malaysian investments in Egypt reached around $12 billion since 2001, Ku Shaari announced in a press conference in Dec. 2015, according to Al Ahram.
He added that trade exchange volume between the two countries reached $340 million during January-September 2015.
