CAIRO: The director of a chest hospital in Ismailia has been charged with malpractice after a 4-year-old child died, according to a statement from the Cabinet Sunday.
Minister of Health Ahmed Emad submitted Prime Minister Sherif Ismail a report saying that the government hospital director has been suspended from doing his duties after child Ahmed Mohamed was transported to the hospital where no doctors or physicians were present, the statement said.
The child was suffering from severe dyspnea (shortness of breath), but he died Saturday as no doctors were available to treat him.
The Minister issued a decision to appoint a new administrative team to run the hospital, the statement continued.
Mohamed was also suffering hepatitis and an enlarged spleen, so his father transported him to the “abandoned hospital”, the father told Youm7, adding that the nurses also refused to receive the case or help the child.
