CAIRO: Journalist and Chairman of the Board of Youm7 Khaled Salah took to Twitter Tuesday to extend his condolences to the victims of the terrorist attacks that ripped through the Brussels airport and a metro station early Tuesday, killing at least 25.

“My heart is with the victims’ families,” he said, adding that many Egyptians hope this moment will cause a change in the conversation about the security at Egyptian airports, and that it will be seen as an international, not domestic issue.

“Will the world boycott Belgium after the attack on airports, like after the Russian plane when they mocked the security of Egypt for weeks?”

A Russian plan that crashed 23 minutes after taking off from the Sharm al-Sheikh airport in October, killing all 224 on board, has caused plummeting occupancy rates in the Red Sea report, during what would have been its high season, further battering the limping tourism sector.

“Can anyone in Europe to blame Belgium if it expands detention procedures of suspects to protect its threatened security?!” he added.

He concluded that he hoped for a day “when all believe that our men from the police and the army who are facing terrorism deserve to be told from our hearts, thank you for your sacrifice, buddy!” and added Once again our sincere condolences to the families of the victims in Belgium.”
