CAIRO: Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum denied Tuesday media reports claiming that British Gas (PG) had suspended its works at 9A+ and 9B areas in the Mediterranean, the Ministry Spokesperson Hamdi Abdel-Aziz stated.

“The areas 9A and 9B area did not come in operation yet as there are still negotiations on gas development in 9B,” the statement read.

Reuters reported that the British company has suspended its works at these areas over disagreement on fixed price for extracted gas between the company and the ministry.

BG is a part of Royal Dutch Shell that has started it works in Egypt since 1983; the ministry noted in its statement that Shell adheres to the deals and contracts signed with the government.
