CAIRO: All Giza parks and historic sites will be open to the public for free March 31 and April 1 on the occasion of the national day of the governorate, Youm7 reported Friday.

The parks include the Giza Zoo, Imbaba Airport Park, the Panorama Park, the Orman Park and the Agricultural Museum. Giza is also home to the Pyramids and the Sphinx.

A morning concert will be held in Shobak village in Badrashin town, and an evening one will be held at the foot of the pyramids March 31, according to Youm7.

On April 1, a number of streets in Giza will be blocked to be turned into tourist sites and handmade artifacts will be exhibited for sale in areas like Wadi el-Nil and Nahdet Misr streets. Another concert will be held at Imbaba Airport Park.

On March 31, 1919, a wide-scale fight occurred between the locals of Shobak in Giza and the British forces that occupied Egypt at the time, where a large number of Egyptians were killed.
