CAIRO: Alexandria and Dakhalia ports were closed Monday morning due to high wind speeds that hindered navigation, Youm7 reported.

Alexandria port spokesperson Reda el-Ghandour said that the decision to close the ports was to prevent risk to ships and naval units after the height of the waves rose up to four meters.

The official forecast authority has warned of unstable, dusty weather to be witnessed in the northern parts of the country, accompanied with temperature drops across governorates.

Ghandour added that rescue teams and naval services are “ready to respond to any distress calls from ships in the ports.”

He noted that containers transfer and goods transport will continue normally at the ports.
