NCW proposes 2017 has year of women: Presidency

CAIRO: Members of the National Council for Women have proposed to declare 2017 a year for Egyptian women said Presidency spokesperson Alaa Youssef in a statement Monday.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met with the council women, taking ways of enhancing women’s role in remote and border areas, Youssef added, noting that the council chairperson Maya Morsi previewed the council’s achievements.

The council helped more than 5 million impoverished women to have IDs to be listed in the government’s social solidarity programs, and will launch a literacy program for women, said Morsi.

Sisi also praised women role in the society, particularly in the parliamentarian career, Youssef continued.
