CAIRO: Two people were killed and 30 others suffered third-degree burns Monday after a blaze broke out in a chocolate factory in the 10th of Ramadan city in Sharqia, Youm7 reported.
The victims were transported to four hospitals in the city, while other four cases in critical condition were admitted to Zaqaziq hospital. More than 30 fire trucks spent three hours extinguishing the blaze at the Cadbury factory in Egypt after a steam tank was exploded, security official told Youm7. He added that the fire extended to the administrative building causing a partially collapse of its ceiling.
Dozens of workers were rescued from the wreckage of the collapsed ceiling, the official continued, noting that investigations were launched.
The factory locates on 330,000 kilometer square in the industrial zone in the city.
On August 31, worker was killed and eight others were injured after fire broke out in a chemical factory in Damietta, while another factory for plastic products caught on fire in Shubra al-Kheima district of Egypt’s Delta governorate Qalyobia.
