CAIRO: The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) has restored five Byzantine manuscripts that discuss Christianity, and will deliver them back to the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, BA Manuscript Museum director Mohamed Suleiman told Youm7 Tuesday.

The library had previously restored a total of 25 Byzantine manuscripts for the Church, he continued, saying that a group of five manuscripts take six months for restoration in the Manuscripts Museum’s Restoration Lab.

The restoration process was conducted per a deal between the BA and the Church in 2011 to restore a total of manuscripts dating back to Byzantine Empire for 1.3 million EGP (about  146,450), Suleiman said.

In May, the BA Restoration lab won the 2015 Best Restoration Lab in Egypt Award, according to the BA official website.
