CAIRO: A man allegedly implicated in a number of bombings in Giza was arrested in his apartment where explosives were seized, a security source told Youm7 in a Wednesday report.
The defendant is accused of perpetrating a bombing in Rimaya Square and Haram Street and planting an explosive device on Marioutiya Ring Road, according to the source.
His apartment in Imbaba was raided and materials needed for bomb manufacturing were found. He is allegedly also implicated in targeting the police and checkpoints, the source said.
Central Security Forces and the bomb squad handled the raid and the defendant in precautionary measures that any of the explosives would detonate.
Amateur manufacturers of explosives increased after the 2013 ouster of President Mohamed Morsi; hundreds of explosive devices detonated across Egypt in the past two years, claiming the lives of policemen and civilians.
