CAIRO: An Egyptian who was captured in a video apparently being beaten by Jordanian police reconciled with the officer in question so he does not get sued for resisting the authorities, Immigration Minister Nabila Makram told Youm7 Wednesday.

A video of the beating had surfaced on social media in the past few days.

The expatriate police of Jordan arrested Hassan Abdel Maguid, originally from Egypt’s Mansoura, for violating the labor law in al-Rasifa, Jordan, Makram quoted eye witnesses as saying.

Abdel Maguid was to be deported after being referred to trial over violating the labor law and resisting the authorities, but he was released for two weeks with the help of the labor delegate of the Egyptian embassy in Amman, the minister said.

In the two weeks, Abdel Maguid should have a new work permit issued for him.
