The Interior Ministry revealed details of the attempted assassination of Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim in a statement Thursday. It said Ibrahim survived this morning’s explosion, a car bomb around 10:30am as the minister’s convoy was passing Mostafa Nahas Street in Cairo’s Nasr City neighborhood.
“The explosion resulted in number of injuries among the guard staff and some civilians present at the site when the incident took place,” the statement said. It added that “security forces have arrived at the scene to investigate the circumstances.”
