CAIRO: The Interior Ministry has withdrawn a report it had filed against undersecretary of the Journalists Syndicate Khaled el-Balshy, according to a Wednesday statement by the union.
The ministry sent a letter to the Attorney-General to drop the complaint, expressing its “appreciation” to the syndicate, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the syndicate’s board emphasized its keenness on relations with the Interior Ministry to ensure public freedoms with the freedom of expression at the forefront, the statement added.
On Tuesday, Balshy was ordered arrested by the prosecution for allegedly “calling for a regime overthrow” on social media, and slandering the police, Youm7 reported.
