Cairo hosts 6th session of African ministerial conference on environment

CAIRO: The 6th special session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) kicked off in Cairo Saturday under the theme: “Agenda 2030 and Paris Agreement: From policy to implementation in Africa.”

The meetings of the expert group will be held on April 16 and 17, while the ministerial segment will be held April 18 and 19 in which environment ministers of 54 African states will be present.


The session aims to provide an opportunity for officials and experts to deliberate on how to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Africa.

It will also tackle ways to assess the implications for Africa of the Paris agreement on climate change and a swift implementation of the African initiatives on Renewable Energy and Adaptation.
