CAIRO: Member of Parliament Samir Ghattas was dismissed from Monday’s session for his “insulting of the parliament inside and outside its premises,” according to speaker Ali Abdel Aal.

“I have noticed recently a number of media programs are insulting the parliament and its members in a manner that goes beyond freedom of opinion and expression and inori gee on their personal freedom,” Abdel Aal said in the session.

“This adversely affects the image of the members of parliament before citizens and creates a false mental image about the legislative institution,” he added.

However, Ghattas objected to the discussion because it “restricts political and media freedoms,” Youm7 reported.

Abdel Aal also condemned the media for attacking President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and the army, mostly after Egypt gave Saudi Arabia control over Tiran and Sanafir islands in the Red Sea.
