CAIRO: Cairo giants Zamalek SC qualified to the CAF Champions League group stage Tuesday with a 3-1 aggregate victory over Algeria’s Mouloudia Olympique de Béjaïa in round of 16 of the African Champions League.
The White Knights achieved a 1-1 draw against MO Béjaïa in the 2nd leg of African Champions League round of 16 held Tuesday at Algeria’s Unité Maghrébine stadium. The five-time title-holders defeated Algerian side 2-0 in the first leg held in Cairo earlier this month.
Béjaïa’s Faouzi Yaya managed to open the scoring in the 57th minute before Zamalek’s before Hamoudi scored an equalizer in the 88th minute.
Zamalek rival Al Ahly SC is scheduled to face Tanzania’s Young Africans in the return leg of the same champion at Borg Al Arab stadium Wednesday.
